Öland

Rocks at the beach

Well, we have arrived in Öland and it is lovely here. We took the train from Stockholm down to Kalmar, on the east coast. From there, Karin & Jonas picked us up and off to Öland we went. We are at a really nice summer house, that Jonas built for his mother, when he was 18 years old.
We spent the day at the beach yesterday. It was a wonderful hot day and we all spent time in the water, which is VERY cold and of course, sunning ourselves and getting sun burned. I haven't had a burn in years! The beach is not one we are used to. There are rocks instead of sand. It was hard on the feet, but beautiful to see. I had a good time hunting rocks and skipping stones on the water. Picked up a nice one for Laura!

Today, we have more adventures planned. Castles everywhere, so we will explore a few of those. In the 'old' castle, there was a concert that everyone was going to. Status Quo was the band. We didn't attend, but heard the music down in the town. I guess I will have another chance, though, they are in Denmark in 2 weeks. Has anyone heard of Status Quo? They seem to be an older rock band. Not me!
Well, we are off to see some castles.
